Dubai based Zahra Karmostaji, got her core education in Office Management; but answering her muse, she trained herself in design. It was a time when there were no fashion schools in Dubai; but this did not deter young Zahra; she took lessons from iconic books, gleaned information on fit from regional tailoring units and developed her own design directory whilst browsing through style magazines.

Commencing her label ‘Zahra’, in 2002 this young entrepreneur, used her intrinsic talent to weave threads of tradition into a unique symphony of international proportions. What started as an all consuming passion inspired by imagery of her mind, evolved into exquisite designs for friends and family.

Bubbling with so many ideas, she initially outsourced to several embroidery and tailoring units. Before she could finish one collection; she was filled with inspiration for a second. Her dream was to present a modern face of Arabia. To create for Muslim women around the globe –showing how concurrent and contemporary they were.

Innovatively designing Abayas and Shaylas, Zahra won accolades for her original creativity; meshing her tradition with trendy twists. Working with a fine team of embroiders, using very select quality of fabrics she continues to design with a clear focus of enhancing her client’s personality.

A keen eye for details, using silken skeins of style, Zahra adds to each garment, creating customized chic, with an intuitive understanding as she adds a subtle drama to highlight her drapery techniques. Today with a twenty strong team of workers, Elegant World is on the forefront of the fashion world of UAE.

Abaya, Shayla & International Couture
Inspired by stories of 1001 nights, Zahra traces the trajectory of an eastern woman as she turns into an “Enchanted Princess”. Chic yet subtle, she wraps her silhouettes; she drapes with delicate drama. Touching it with ornamentation; precious crystals, stones-uncut and brilliant, pure Swarovski, sprinkled sequins, soft skeins richly embellish every outfit with restrain.

Capturing the innate grace though every ensemble, in a fantasy of sorbet shades, jet, black, sand and pristine blue Zahra recalls the colors of an Arabic landscape. Rich French tulle, creamy crepes, soft brocades, flowing georgettes, organza, velvets and natural silks, replete with ancient techniques of kasyab, French knots, Farsi embellishments and zar echoing the of legacy of a regal past. Witty draped tunics, chic corsetiere and sashaying skirts add the perfect foil for sartorial splendor for a blossoming princess.

Couture and Diffusion: Abayas and Shaylas designed for formal occasions; this is customized to the clients needs. Emphasizing luxury, elegance and in limited editions, these ensembles are richly embellished and draped in keeping to the occasion and the requirements of our client- extraordinarily exclusive.

Prêt-a-Porter: A ready to wear collection for informal and casual occasions, with fabric durability, comfort but never compromising style this line is accentuated with minimalism yet timelessness through great fabric and intricately embroidery.
